Studying Coexistence of PMSE with Different Radio Systems at UHF Frequency Range inside SEAMCAT

In his thesis Mr. Chen focused on the TV-UHF frequency range 470…694 MHz, where he studied coexistence of different radio systems.

He assessed the probability for harmful interference causing outage of PMSE links (professional wireless microphones, in-ear-monitors) with the tool SEAMCAT (Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool) provided by ECC CEPT.

For PMSE he looked at the vulnerability of narrowband analog and digital PMSE as well as upcoming Broadband WMAS (wireless Multichannel Audio Systems) PMSE systems.

As interferers he considered military signals, upcoming 5G Production technology, future 5G bluelight technology (Police, Firemen, Ambulance, THW, BDBOS) and cellular 4G/5G Technology.

During the course of the thesis he rated different schemes for managing interference to allow for coexistence of these systems in the TV-UHF frequency range.

You will learn how to use SEAMCAT for assessing the risk of outage due to interference.
